PEYOTE BEADING EASY START.

Starting a project in peyote, can sometimes be difficult. Some people use special stripes that allow them to fix the first row in their position. I have tried several techniques and I found the fastest way to start. It can be a little bit frightening, as one has the idead of chaos. But, once you master it, you would discover that this is a very good method to start in peyote. We are referring here to the even count peyote stitch.
Step one.
You must attach a stopper bead at the end of your thread, and tie a couple of knots. This bead will be cut off later on.
Step two.
Add an even amount of beads, as many as you need for your project.

Step three.
Pick up a bead and pass the needle through the second bead, that is skipping the first one.

Step four.
Turn your work up side down. You are going to grab the thread, leaving the triangle of beads in between your index and middle finger of your left hand (if you are left handed, use your right hand). And you are going to hold the bead stopper, (or the other side of the thread, as you prefer), in between the rest of the fingers. You shall not move from this position until you finish adding the beads of your second row.

Step five.
Pick up a bead of your chosen pattern and skip one bead. The beads are going to "dance" on the thread a bit, but it is ok. Do not stress about this. You can pull them by pairs to the top, if that helps you.

Step six.
Once you have added the last bead, let go the thread anchored at the top fingers, pull both thread ends gently, and watch the Magic! All beads will fall into place, so you can start now to add up the beads of your third row.

Step seven.
Tie a knot using the both ends of thread you pulled.
Step eight.
Now you can start adding up your beads.
